Morgan Garrett

Family Ministries Intern

Morgan Garrett is a ninth-generation cradle Methodist who spent most of her childhood at Bethany United Methodist Church in North Austin. She first experienced her “heart strangely warmed” at age seven while serving alongside others in ministry with unhoused neighbors.

At Bethany, Morgan served as a youth delegate to the Annual Conference and on the church’s Administrative Board. After graduating from high school, she joined the staff as a Children’s Ministry Intern before attending Southwestern University in Georgetown to study religion.

While at Southwestern, Morgan reconnected with a former pastor and began serving on the nursery staff at Wellspring UMC, where she later completed internships in Family Discipleship, Worship, and Pastoral Care. Prior to her junior year, she was invited by the chaplain to serve as president of the Methodist Student Movement (MSM). Although initially hesitant, Morgan accepted the role, and over the next 10 months, the ministry grew from one student to over forty, with support from FUMC Georgetown.

Through her work with MSM, Morgan discerned a call to ordained ministry and is now a certified candidate in the Horizon Texas Conference. She is especially passionate about Godly Play curriculum and loves creating spaces for wonder, having used this approach with both children and adults. Her ministry focuses on children, pastoral care, and creating spaces where all people can grow in faith.

In her free time, Morgan enjoys reading by the San Gabriel River, riding her bike, and searching for the best traditional Czech kolaches in town.
